Lusting For a Long Sleeve Dress

New Years is always a funny time. You want to look cute in a little strapless, sparklely dress, but the weather outside does NOT permit it - especially in Ohio.  So now I am in search of a long sleeve dress that I can pair with black hose to make my night not only a cute one, but a warm(er) one.

Books of the Moment.

Here are some of the books that I have been reading. I’m in the process of reading 2 of them. Hopefully Christmas break will give me the time to finish them all!

First Snow on the First of December

So things have just been plain crazy around here! The semester is wrapping up so there is lots of work to be done! After next week, the work load will definitely go down a notch.

Yesterday, as you know, was the first of December, and in Ohio, it was the first snow fall of the season. I can’t remember the last time it did that. I have been stressed the past few days and was especially stressed yesterday. I had a big project due yesterday that I totally forgot about.  I spent all day yesterday making something up just so I could turn something in.  Then, another miracle (besides the snow!) happened. My class was canceled! I had another week to work on this project! I was so happy! So happy in fact, that I thought a joyful romp with Boomer at the dog park in the snow was extremely appropriate. So I laid my computer down and drove over with Boomer. We played for about 2 hours in the snow! He absolutely loved it. I actually took a video with my phone and here it is (HOW CUTE!):

After playing for so long, Boomer was quite ready to come home. We snuggled together on the couch drinking hot chocolate (at least I was) in order to warm up! It was so nice.  I then decided to take some EXTREMELY cute pictures!

Can you tell that I am obsessed with my dog???

Beginnings of Holiday Food!

So Thanksgiving is slowly creeping up on me! Only a few more days.  We have started the annual ritual of beginning to cook all of the treats and sweets for the day.  My mother has made the brine for the turkey, and we are able to make some special Chex Mix and some pies! The Chex Mix that we are using is called “Pumpkin Pie Chex Mix” and it is a recipe she saw in an ad in a magazine.  The recipe can also be seen here.  Here is the recipe:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1tbsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups Cinnamon Chex (or Life) Cereal
  • 2 cups Wheat Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups Honey Nut Chex Cereal
  • 8 oz of pecans
  1. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice; set aside in a small microwave-safe dish, microwave butter on High about 30 seconds or until fully melted. Stir in vanilla.  In large microwaveable bowl, mix all cereals and pecans.  Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly distributed.  Add sugar and spice mixture and stir until coated.
  2. Microwave uncovered on High 5 minutes or until mixture begins to brown, stirring every minute.  Spread on wax paper or a cookie sheet to cool.  Store in airtight container.

and….

Taaa Daaa! Yummy!
